Our Favorite Things: Guest Books (Pensacola Wedding Photographer)
As a wedding photographer, we often think that we have seen it all, but you creative brides never cease to surprise us. One area that received little attention in the days of old was the guest book. Many of us have a traditional book sitting somewhere with our guests signatures. Today, however, brides are using their guest books in new and creative ways.
We of course have seen some traditional guest books. Look at this great one. The guests have a place to write a little more. How fun to read later!
A recent trend in guest books is to add photos to them. This is a great way to use all of those engagement photos. (By the way – we can make your guest book for you! Ask us about it…)
Other couples just frame one and let their friends and family sign the matte (no sitting in a box in the attic for this “guest book”).
Not interested in a photo of you? This clever couple had their guests sign a canvas reproduction of their favorite piece of art.
We have seen some other creative brides that entice their guest to write more by making it fun.
Look at this bride: she left envelopes with cards for her guests to fill out with their predictions for the couple’s future.
Do you scrapbook? We were amazed to see the time and energy that these guests put into their scrapbook pages.
And if you are making a scrapbook as your guestbook, why not add your wedding activities? (Mad Libs or crosswords your style?)
Why limit yourself to paper? You can have your guests sign anything. This is an easy way to tie in your theme.
For a nautical theme we have seen a wooded boat propeller or a paddle….
How about a large shell for a beach wedding? Just remember, you are going to want these items to sit out in your house, so try to match your living style and not just your wedding.
And don’t forget to decorate your guest book area!
One couple put pictures of the couple in old window frames. I am a bit obsessed with old window frames and doors!
This is a great place to hand out little treats for the guests. Make it food and I bet you will have a line to sign your “book”!
